The city of Tulear
The main city in the southwest of Madagascar, Tulear is effervescent by nature. It will enchant you with its long lines of colorful rickshaws, its avenues lined with tamarind and flamboyant trees, its market "Le Bazar Be", its museums, its restaurants.
A few kilometers away is the Antsokay Arboretum, which brings together 40 hectares of endangered endemic plants from Madagascar. It is also an opportunity to discover the monument symbolizing the Tropic of Capricorn.
Anakao and its islands
Off the coast of the village of Anakao is the island of Nosy Ve, known as "Bird Island", an islet on a coral bank extending over an area of 10m². There is a colony of endemic birds on this island, such as the red-tailed tropicbird or red-tailed tropicbird, better known as "straw-tailed tropicbird".
Nosy Satrana is a small desert island south of Anakao. Tombs crown its summit. The island is connected to the land by a very shallow sandbank, herds of zebus come there to seek food during high tides.
The park of
Tsimananpetsotsa
Created in 2002, this 43.2 ha national park has the only salt lake in Madagascar. This natural treasure is home to the eponymous salt lake, arid landscapes, and endemic fauna. You can discover caves, lemurs, fish, flamingos, bats, giant banyan trees, and baobabs.
Did you know? The park is home to the oldest baobab in Madagascar, the “grandmother” baobab, which is estimated to be 1,600 years old!
Snorkeling and whale safari in Beheloka
Nestled along the 7km Ambatobe lagoon, separated from the coral reef by only 2km, Beheloka is an ideal snorkeling destination. Embark aboard an authentic Vezo canoe and explore the exceptionally rich seabed.
